My peace I give you...

Did you know that this year is the 50th anniversary of what the world knows as the "Peace" sign and symbol? Curious about its origins?

British artist Gerald Holtom drew a circle with three lines inside, intending the design to be a symbol for the Direct Action Committee Against Nuclear War (DAC). The letters "N" and "D" were used to represent "nuclear disarmament." Using the semaphore system (which conveys information at a distance by means of visual signals) the "N" is formed by a person holding a flag in each hand and then pointing them toward the ground at a 45 degree angle. The "D" is formed by holding one flag straight down and one straight up. In 1960, the symbol migrated to the United States and by the late 1960s, the peace sign had become an international symbol adopted by anti-war protesters of the Baby Boomer generation.

The "V-sign", also called the "peace sign" and the "victory sign," is a hand gesture with the index and middle fingers open and all others closed, facing the viewer. Originally strictly a sign for victory, it developed into a peace sign during protests against the Vietnam War (and subsequent anti-war protests) and by the counterculture as a sign of peace.
Isn't it nice to know that the peace Jesus gives us is supernatural and eternal? The peace of this world...well there's not much of it...is fleeting, conditional and comes with strings attached. There is only one string attached between the Lord and those who love him. The string from our hearts to His. Amen!

Let's start a new peace movement wearing sheer comfort and a brilliantly embellished rhinestone shirt from the 'The Verses' collection:

This shirt looks absolutely gorgeous in white rhinestone. Made from a soft, durable cotton blend, it's a stylish, convenient and sensible way to advocate for peace. Beats walking around carrying signs!

This shirt is one of my favorites. I especially love it in white, embellished with rhinestones! Elegantly understated and Christian-inspired, it speaks Peace without saying a word. Makes a great birthday, shower or wedding gift.

Made in the USA of a premium blend of 94% Cotton (even the cotton is grown here.), 6% Spandex, Embellishment Rhinestones - and is machine washable. When ordering use coupon code 'peace'.

Let the Peace of Christ rule your Hearts.
Many Blessings,

Michele
